The Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission (TJPDC) and The Charlottesville-Albemarle Metropolitan Planning Organization (CA-MPO) fully comply with Title VI, Environmental Justice, and other subsequent legislation that prohibits the discrimination of any person, regardless of race, color, national origin, disability, sex, age, income-status, sexual orientation, or limited-English-speaking proficiency from access to, participation in, and admission to any of the activities, programs, or operations of either the TJPDC or CA-MPO.  The TJPDC also ensures equal opportunity in employment and administration of personnel policies without regard to race, color, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, political affiliation, familial status, pregnancy, or disability.  This policy applies to every aspect of employment practices.

The CA-MPO & TJPDC’s Title VI/Environmental Justice Plan provides a framework for how both entities ensure that non-discriminatory efforts and policy are enforced, and how both entities avoid excluding the above populations from the planning process.  This plan is administered by the TJPDC Executive Director, Chip Boyles, who serves as the TJPDC/CA-MPO Title VI Coordinator.

The TJPDC and CA-MPO will make every effort to respond to requests for additional services, such as translators and transcription services for the hearing-impaired, for any TJPDC or CA-MPO meeting, provided there is at least two days’ notice.  Major plans and documents will also be made available in a variety of languages if requested to do so.
