TJPDC staff has completed all work under this grant awarded through the Federal Highways Administration. As part of project deliverables, TJPDC has established a new Eco-Logical homepage which includes a description of the Eco-Logical approach, a user guide for the Tool (referred to as the Regional Ecological Framework, or REF), and a summary of the Eco-Logical Pilot Project: Free Bridge Area Congestion Relief. A Final Report detailing the use of the REF in the analysis and prioritization of transportation projects through the Commonwealth’s HB2 process is also available online.

TJPDC staff presented information about the project at three events in September and October:

  • The 2015 International Conference on Ecology and Transportation (ICOET), held September 20-24, 2015 in Raleigh, North Carolina, as part of a panel discussion on implementing the Eco-Logical Approach
  • The 26th Annual Virginia Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Conference, held October 19-20, 2015 at the University of Virginia
  • Federal Highways Administration (FHWA) Eco-Logical Peer Exchange , held October 14 and 15th in Washington, DC.
